A catastrophic fire damaged many of these double hung windows so that they required complete replacement, especially on the top floor, as seen in the photo above. Location of the building in a historic Beacon Hill neighborhood across from Massachusetts State House required that the replacements be wood true divided light units approved by the historic commission.
We furnished complete restoration of all surviving existing sash and windows. The fourth floor was completely gutted, and some windows on the street side were too heavily damaged to restore as the firemen gained access or vented the fire through these openings. In these cases, it was necessary to fill the complete window opening with a new reproduction replacement. Replacements were all double hung windows equipped with pulley and counterweight systems. Mulled units were furnished for the top floor. We furnished storm windows for most units.
